Maths Screencast Double Addtion

In Room 20 we have been using Screencastify to show our personal learning in maths. We are now sharing our personal Screencasts and this is one of my screencast's down below. Sorry about the hold ups in the video.

Jump Rope For Heart

For Jump Rope For Heart I participated in our hall. Our school turn our school hall into a gym and we used it to get awareness of Jump Rope For Heart. I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Evacuation

Wind rushed by rapidly. “Mum why is wind the going so fast?” Tom asked.
“I don’t know why?” replied Mum. Suddenly the T.V had a news alert.
“This is Channel three news, there is a Tornado alert, three Tornadoes are expected to hit.” Darkness moved in, the sun’s light was swallowed up by the clouds it was clear the tornados were going to hit soon!

Car alarms went off in a high pitch, ringing in people’s ears. A tornado was in the north. Tom inquired. “Is that a Tornado in the north Mum?”
“It is!” Mum replied in horror.
“Sure it could be worse right?” “The other Tornadoes aren’t here.” stated Tom trying to shed some light on the situation. Tom slowly strode to the south in an attempt to confirm.
“Look there is no other torna.” Tom stood there astonished and scared of the sight of two Tornados coming from the south east. Mum asked while walking to Tom. “What is it Tom.”
“The the two tor__tor,nados.”

“Oh no Dad works at the factory it is right in the line of the tornado.”worried Mum told.
“Dad’s in trouble, real trouble, what can we do?” replied Tom. Suddenly.
“This is Channel 3 News, authorities have started to evacuate Ranville. All three tornados have hit, seventeen people are confirmed dead in the wrath of the tornados, one of the tornado's is dangerously near Cerstecs factory and evacuations are underway.”
“Oh no.” wept Tom in deep grief. As the news of a death toll rising it got slimmer for Dad to be alive, evacuations were starting to happen but lots of evacuations had failed. The town was left empty and devastated. Half of the town was in the underground evacuation centre.

As the was flooding in more evacuations were failing.”Mum is Dad ok”. Tom asked. Mum didn’t answer because she couldn’t guarantee Dad was ok.”Mum is Dad ok Mum are you listening” Tom screamed. “Look I can’t guarantee anything we can only hope.” replied Mum.
“Dad.” Tom yelled in enjoyment. Tom sprinted up to Dad. Dad was limping slowly with a broken leg. A smile suddenly lit up his flag.
“What happened Dad” asked Tom.
“I just made it out in time I was able to find A evacuation group.” replied Dad.
“We’ve lost everything though.” Mum replied.
“It could be worse.” replied Dad.

Should The Nz Flag Be Changed

I strongly believe that the New Zealand flag shouldn’t be changed. Firstly, there is no reason for the flag to change, most of the population don’t actually care. Secondly, it’s a waste of money. Finally, people have fought and served under the New Zealand flag.

Most of the population actually don’t care about changing the flag at the moment so why change it? At the first flag public change meeting that was a public meeting in Auckland only 13 people turned up! One of these people just came for the free cookies and that person  was a comedian. Clearly the flag changing is unimportant to many New Zealanders.

Changing the New Zealand flag is a waste of money, 26 million dollars! Our country just can’t afford to waste money on flags when we have serious problems with housing and also with a struggling economy. We are really lacking in housing and have many  homeless people. The money for the flag is needed for other causes not for a new flag.

Many people have fought under our flag and died, we just can’t forget our history and the people that have died for our country, our flag. If we replace our flag we are removing an icon to the country and where we sit in the British Commonwealth.

I strongly disagree with the New Zealand changing the flag. It was adopted 113 years ago in 1902 and I believe that we should keep what is already our internationally recognised icon.

GEGNZ Student Summit 2015

On Wednesday 12 August, a group of students; Kendyl Pye Dani Johnston  Solomon Larson  Dylan Chestnut  Kaleb Murray   Elijah Lee and myself went  to Hobsonville Point Primary for the GEGNZ Student summit. GEGNZ stands for Google Education Group New Zealand. There were several workshops there and TAPS did two presentations, one on making ads the other on how to use video for education. Overall it was a; fun educational day.

Term 2 Showcase

On Monday 29th June 6.00 to 7.00 at the hall there was lots presentations of what people have been researching for the term. This was inspired off their research they had done for writing, they had to make a visual presentation of what they researched and had to include their published writing

The presentation I did with Kathrin and Kacey

Aurora Australis

Have you ever witnessed nature's light show dancing across the night sky. This colourful display is referred to, and known as “The Southern Lights”. What causes this spectacular illumination, Aurora Australis?

The Aurora Australis is triggered first by the sun. The sun is always active, solar flares are common. When a solar flare happens the solar flare ejects a cloud of ions, electrons and atoms into space. The particles fly out into space and travel thousands  of kilometres across the solar system.

   Diagram of the Aurora Australis.

The particles arrive at Earth’s magnetic field. This magnetic field  is invisible and it acts as a shield that doesn't let any particles in or out. Instead it guides them along the shape of the magnetic field to the North and South pole.

While the particles are in the magnetic field, they accelerate to speeds of up to 100 kilometre an hour. As they reach the North or South pole the particles collide with other particles in Earth’s atmosphere releasing energy in the form of light.

The Aurora Australis is a wonderful display caused by solar flare’s. Auroras can happen on other planets not just Earth, they all happen the same.

How Was The Solar System Formed

Have you ever wondered how the Solar System right before you was created? For years people have wondered how the Solar System was formed to be how it is today. The story of the creation of the Solar System is long and has catastrophic events that lead up to create our existence.

The whole of our existence is caused by an ancient Star exploding, littering space with swirling clouds called Nebulae. A Nebulae are the materials the Sun has made in its life, the lighter materials are from  when it lived and the metals are from when it died. The Nebulae flies out into space which starts the process of a solar system forming.

The outer rim of the Nebulae starts collapsing on its own gravity. As the Nebulae collapses on its gravity it starts to spin faster and faster with the Nebulae getting smaller and more compact. The speed is so fast that the centre heats up dramatically creating the sun, the rest of the materials spread out into a vast disc of dust around the sun.

Luckily our Nebulae had materials for life. The materials start colliding with each other there can be two outcomes. One of the outcomes is both of the materials stick together or they bump into each other and start the process again. The materials keep colliding and get bigger and bigger. It starts becoming survival of the fittest. Soon massive balls of materials are big enough for planets. Or for the next event…

By then the Sun has got hot enough for the final stage. The sun's most dramatic event happens. A massive life threatening solar flare blasts the too small materials out into space also that's the cause of asteroids in space. The only things that survived were the Moons, Planets and Dwarf Planets.

The creation of the Solar System is astonishing it starts with a star exploding and releasing Nebulas into space. Then collapsing on its own gravity to start progress. After 4.6 Billion years the Solar System was formed. All Nebulas are different that's why all Solar Systems are different.
