Art Work

Today we made this piece of art by shading with pastels and then making these patterns on the template.

Getting Ready For Camp

Today we prepared for camp that is tomorrow from the time I am posting it.  The camp is located in in Hunua Ranges, south of Auckland.  The camp takes up 100 acres of land and is run by the YMCA.  In preparation we did an activity with our Cabin Group and our Activity Group.  My Cabin group is called the Fatties?  With my activity group called the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the 90's?  Do not ask about the group names, I would prefer a more civil names.

I am excited about the camp and have heard great things.  There is some interesting  activities I've heard of :  Mudslide, Confidence Course, Killer Hill and many more fun activities.

I am nervous about my physical form at the moment, with my allergies getting worse I can just hope for the best.  Though the weather is fine so I am not worried about that.

Turbo Touch

On 7 September, our class went out to do Turbo Touch.  It is a mix of Touch Rugby, Netball and many more. It is Touch Rugby though it allows the ball to be passed, kicked and whatever you want!  It is a fun game and first to 2 points wins.  We are planing on playing more, personally I dislike Rugby, though this is different and I love the concept and love the fun idea. I would recommend it.

Debate On TAPS Going Back To Mufti

Should TAPS Go Back To Mufti? Y/N

No:
  • It would be formal and be set an impression on other smaller schools.
  • People could identify people who attends the school, so people would be able to tell if the child went to a school.
  • It would set a bad impression on the school.
  • We’re supposed to  set a good impression outside of school.
  • It would set a bad habit of always having to wear mufti like clothes, that would mean further in life when they get a job they would commonly attend in mufti, not in their work forces uniform.
  • It would show equality and a sign of being a team.

Facts:

  • It gives a feeling of equality
  • Normally people that wear uniform are usually proved more sympathetic because of the thought of being  a marked team

Script:
(Code)  Alex   Evan  Both
Eg: Children should have ... school uniform.
Alex:
Intro: Hi we’re Alex & Evan and we debating against TAPS going back to mufti instead of school uniform.  So here are our reasons against TAPS going back to mufti.
  1. Our first reason out of 4 in this debate is about the type of habit it would set.  I am referring to the pupils future life.  It would set an extremely bad habit of , when they have a job they would arrive in non  formal clothes that would result in, well then they maybe might get fired.
  2. Our school would want to have some dignity, that most people would be in having a uniform, that is formal, and that is what we have, a formal uniform that sets a good stance compared to the other schools.

Evan:
Intro: Hi we’re Alex & Evan and we debating against TAPS going back to mufti instead of school uniform.  So here are our reasons against TAPS going back to mufti. Our 3 debate out of 4 is : we are supposed to set a good impression outside of school.  Non- uniform wouldn’t be good for that people will properly think the opposite of us they could think that the parents aren’t giving their children an education.  Or could be conceived as being  home schooled.

Our last debate  is : about how it would show equality and being in a team/group.  Usually people who wear uniform show, more sympathy, that will improve their skills with dealing with people in the pupil's future  life .  Also some people lack people communication skills so it will boost their skills.

Argument Writing

Should The School Day Go To 5:00?

In my personal opinion I disagree about the school day going to 5:00.  Firstly, children could get tired.  Secondly, there would be a issue  in time for families.  Finally, children would probably have sports on top of the school day.

Firstly, children need sleep, 7-12 year olds need at least 10-12 hours of sleep to sustain healthy properties.  One side effect from too less sleep is your immune shield will dramatically weaken.  That would result in less time at school, that would reverse the action of making school longer.

Secondly, the timeframe for the family picking their child(ren) up would have issues.  Subsequently, the children will  unfortunately have to walk home … in the dark!  Apparently, the danger of being attacked by a cheetah is the same for a child to walk alone at night.  So it would put the students in danger, and the school could be *hammered (* the school would be extensively) for allowing this danger to come to their pupils.

Finally, most children have sports or other hobbies involving exercise.  Since exercise is so vital, the school time would erase the chances of receiving exercise.  15% of of children from 6-19 are obese, in other words overweight.  That would increase drastically if school was longer.  It has many good effects if you exercise, one of them helps with learning and also children usually have a better attendance rate as well.

Hopefully my reasons have changed your opinion or shown  you what reasons will help decide your opion.  Because children would get tired that would result in in a major side effect (that I have gone over) also obviously the danger with walking at night (that I have also gone over) and my final reason showing the side effects of no sports(that I have also gone over).  So in my personal opinion I strongly disagree for the school hours to go from 9:00 to 5:00!

Wizard - Description

Heartless ... emotionless he sits slyly devising the ultimate plot. Motionless, he is so still that it is like he is having a portrait worth millions, of himself. Blankly, staring at you it is almost brain damaging to look at him partially. Who would know who he was, who would know what he is thinking, who would know what sentenced him to his eternal slumber. Bulging out, his face looks like a two year old had sculpted his flat thin face. Jet black, he wears a scratched robe that would of in it's day would of been a multi million dollar masterpiece that would of been used for eternities of assassinations judging by the soaked blood. Propped up, his piece of what looks like a wand lies beside him, with a half burnt hat that slightly rises until... it's ashs of the rest lay on the bottom of the chair.

Different Shots (Practice)

On the 10 May 2016 we had Mrs T, she showed us the different camera shots, so we had a challenge to put 4 seconds of Establishing shots, then 4 seconds of long shots, then 4 seconds of mid shot and 4 seconds of close up that adds up to an amount of 16 seconds for this little short. Enjoy!
How we found the car was we were digging for the off scene work to make it look like it was a timelapse but when we were digging we found that car* (A hot wheels car).

Daffodil Planting

On 11 April (2016) we planted Daffodils for the upcoming Daffodil day on 26 August. Our class (Room 20) planted Daffodils in massive pots to surround the current plant in the middle. We each got a Daffodil bulb to plant in a hole we had to dig. It will hopefully grow before Daffodil day.

All About Me Presentation

Kumera (Description On Hating A Food)

Pale brown, it's disgusting rugged surface camouflages it in it's habitat, except it's on a ivory white smooth plate.  Scrunching, pure hatred  and disgust ungently changes my option to avoid to protestment.  Planning slowly.  Unturned, letting my emotions dance freely, my cheeks turn cherry red with uttermost anger.  Lingering carelessly, the aroma replicates it's real flavour. Gritting, my teeth painfully lock like a door, in guarding measures.  "Yuck."

Term 1 Week 10 Art

Swimming Sports (Not Real)

Fumbling around, a fantastic fiesta full of loud shrieks of encouragement leaves a terrible headache.  Surrounding, wire mesh creates compound for the event, layered with solid concrete.   Transparent, the exquisite liquid gleams like diamonds joyfully, in their beautifully paved enclosure like spoilt zoo animals.  Darting past, the wild aqua human glides across chlorine filled sea.  Massive crowds, of onlookers spectate in their coloured tribes, viscously shouting and arguing about the result.  Nerves, rapidly build up as my turn is nigh, with a nightmare group of excellent sportsmen…

Suddenly, I stop to a standstill of a flood filled for frightful failures with also triumphant endings startle me.  Slowly, I take miniature paces trembling in fear. Quickly, it starts, I lurch forward in an attempt to dive turns to an attempt to flop hard on the heavy cluster of water.  Furiously, I kick and a scarcity of of power hits tremendously hard on my currently standing strife.  Failing desperately, I increase my velocity tremendously in an absolute attempt to avoid immortal humiliation.   A miracle occurs, I have gone from lousy last to emortal eight. “That was excellent”.  Suddenly I bump the concrete edge, the world slowly falls apart, then it is shaken off.

Loudly projected, the places are revealed unexpectedly, all the places are announced.  “Noooooo”.  I shriek. Off Plan, I am enraged at them calling out second to last, it was only supposed to be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and then last, so my name was bellowed out.  Sighing, embarrassment fulls me as I shrug and  slowly tilt my head down.  How did this tampered teasing happen...

Week 7 Writing

Sheet Hut

Surrounded in cotton, the layer encapsulates me. Thinning, the air by the hard to breathe because of miniature holes that wouldn't even let a tiny ant through! Suffocating me, the air is so thin that  a rapidly gasp for air from the outside. Delicately, the cotton walls are disturbed by the uttermost movement. Peering out, the sight is complexly different from it's normal form. Sending shivers, my body feels at major fault of order. Structurally, the sheet is propped up by a table with nothing to weigh it down. Smudged, the grim writing and marks of crayons set a grim scene of relaxation. Finally... I am free from the grim horrid prison.

The Hangi (Recount)

Quickly Auahi* flooded, the massive white cloud erupted out of an old rusted black barrel. Bright colorful vegetables, kumara, riwa*, paukena* and kapeti* had developed a smoky crisp coating, to hide it's ancestry. Anxiously, wahie* and tangata*quickly rushed between places, maintaining the meal. Blasting down, the sun and the meal melted me and also left me sweating. Trembling, my stomach begged for the food like a starving caged animal. Drifting away, the auahi* left a terrible stench.

Class Trip

Our Trip To The Courier And The Space Centre

On the 3rd March our class went on a class trip. My favorite part of this trip was the space center, we went to the space centre to see Dave for media teaching and his expertise were wide and taught us about camera shots, he let us use his camera for demonstrating.

We learnt on this trip:
  • The different camera shots and lighting, that will prove useful in media
  • How to work in a deadline and also some of our town's history
Dave from the space centre has a great website here where I can learn more.
